Monthly spend caps

Set a monthly spend cap on your organization so campaigns pause automatically when it is reached. How the cap is counted and how to lift it.

What a spend cap does

A monthly spend cap is an organization-wide ceiling, separate from each campaign's own budget. When delivered spend across all your campaigns in a calendar month reaches the cap, every active campaign is held and you are emailed. Nothing further delivers until you raise the cap or the month rolls over.

It is a safeguard for always-on campaigns and for teams where several people can launch.

Setting it

Organization settings → Billing → Monthly spend cap. Enter the amount in your billing currency, or leave it empty for no cap.

How spend is counted

Delivered spend is counted as it is recorded, in your billing currency, across all markets. Campaigns in other markets are counted at the figure invoiced, without conversion.

When the cap is reached

  • Active campaigns move to Paused.
  • You receive an email naming the cap and the campaigns held.
  • Raise or remove the cap and campaigns resume within a few minutes; or wait for the first of the month, when the counter resets and campaigns resume automatically.

Spend cap versus campaign budget

A campaign budget limits one campaign. A spend cap limits the organization. Both are ceilings on delivered spend, never commitments, and neither is ever exceeded.
