Dayparting: choosing when your ad plays

The five daypart options — All day, Rush hour, Business hours, Evenings and Custom — what hours they cover, and how they affect your CPM and reach.

The daypart options

DaypartHours (screen local time)Typical use
All day24 hoursMaximum reach at the base rate
Rush hour6–9 AM and 4–7 PMCommuters, drive-time
Business hours9 AM–5 PMLunch trade, daytime retail
Evenings6–11 PMDining, entertainment, after-work retail
CustomAny hours you choose, per day of the weekStore opening hours, event windows

Hours follow the screen's local time zone, so a national campaign plays at the right local hours everywhere.

Custom schedules

Choose Custom to open a week grid and select the hours you want on each day. Use it to match your own trading hours, to avoid hours when your store is closed, or to concentrate on a weekend event.

How dayparts affect price and reach

Restricting hours does two things:

  1. Less inventory. Fewer hours means fewer available plays, so the forecast drops for the same screens.
  2. A higher CPM. Peak dayparts carry a multiplier on the base CPM because they are in higher demand. All day is the base rate; Rush hour and Evenings are typically the highest.

The quote card shows the daypart multiplier applied. If your budget cannot be delivered in the hours you chose, the savings options offer Include off-peak hours with the exact impression difference. See How pricing works.

Choosing

  • For awareness, run All day. Most impressions for the lowest CPM.
  • For foot traffic, match the hours the destination is open, usually Business hours or a Custom schedule.
  • For commuter messages, Rush hour.
